My name is Charles Arellano. I was born on March 15, 1971 and I am a lifelong native of Colorado. I attended Thornton High School and graduated in May of 1990. In 1990 and 1991, I attended Metropolitan State College of Denver, and was attempting to earn a Civil Engineering Degree. After Attending Metro for one year, I decided to leave and pursue employment as a Restaurant Manager for our family business. During the next 12 years, I developed a love for coaching youth basketball and football. I enjoyed the challenge of teaching youths the fundamentals, the love for the game as well as how to enjoy peer competition. During this time of coaching, I established within myself what my real joy was, teaching.
In the summer of 2010 I again returned to Metropolitan State College of Denver, but this time it was for a different degree; Mathematics with a minor in secondary education. I felt that it was time to put my personal resources, from working with youths in coaching, and knowledge to work and help teach our children the joy of working with mathematics. Within the last year of returning to school I have developed my pure passion for teaching “to show children the joy of working with numbers, the satisfaction of solving problems associated with mathematics, and the overall capabilities of all children to develop a mathematical mind."
